Old school hip hop for me is late 80s early 90s. Fab 5 Freddy. Yo! MTV Raps. (Kudos if you nailed the punctuation.) EPMD dropped a great song with a guest verse by LL that was one of the best flows of all time. Furreal. It was also about being on a Rampage. One of the best video games of all time.

MILEY
I’m good. A handful of good conversations this evening. All motivating and positive. Whether it was my daughter and I connecting on how … she kind of wasn’t nice all day today … and getting to a place where hopefully next time she leads with “I’m tired and that’s why I’m frustrated?” Whether it was some friends and I who have had a social impact idea we’ve been trying to do as a small way to make the world a tad bit better. Or a conversation with my wife who’s doing so much coordination across so many schedules just to make this weekend work.
Or with my Mumma, who moves a million miles an hour in every direction for everyone who asks. #iamgrateful and #iamthankful that I’m surrounded by a bunch of people … who can’t stop, and who won’t stop. And as a result, who help me keep moving. I’m keeping on keeping on.

WE ARE BETTER TODAY
An old family friend wrote a great piece on data (“lies, damned lies, and statistics”) and the importance of context. It was an awesome reminder not just for work, but for all the conversations we’re having about where the world stands today. I want to be clear, there is an extraordinary amount of work to be done. I’ll beat that drum, and I’ll live to the beat of that drum for the rest of my life. But context matters. If we don’t stop to realize the progress that has been made, it will be harder to motivate people for the progress that’s yet to be had.

MJ vs LBJ
On the eve of Game 5, the debate on MJ vs LBJ has quieted and we’re spending a little more time on KD vs LBJ, and how even LBJ vs MJ isn’t even a worthwhile discussion. I hated MJ when he played. And regret not embracing his awesome while he was alive so I could just appreciate. His retirement changed how I watched sports. I stopped rooting blindly for my own teams and started appreciating greatness. In all forms. Even moreso after Anaiya and then Jaan was born. Watching any and all sports has become much more positive as a result. And FWIW, if I’m going to obsess over anyone involved with sports, it’s going to be Zach Lowe (can someone get this guy to start writing about politics — if our political journalism was half as nuanced, informed, well researched and consistently shipped as his work, we’d be a smarter country.) But I do enjoy VSB. And this article from June 1st finally made it to the top of my Pocket list, and I read through it a few times (it’s not lengthy).

Today I got a few moments with a guardian. We all have them. Parents. Spouses. Siblings. Friends. Kids (yeah, Anaiya protects Priya KC Bhatt like whoa!) I am adding one to the list. Co-workers. Meet DelShaun Marie. #iamgrateful and #iamthankful for her. She made me better at my job.
She made me a better husband (her and Priya collaborated on my life schedule.) She made me a better friend. And she shielded me from a buncha nonsense so I could focus on what mattered. Vibranium ain’t got sh*t on Homie. All because we worked so well as a team. Got some time with her today and I smiled a lot.
Because that’s what she brings to the table. Lucky me. Thanks homie!
