Sorry folks, but I’m all ahead of all things Frozen 2 for the kids. Tickets bought. Songs already memorized (as much as possible). I’m fired up and ready.I’ll tell you though … this line nails so many things. It’s beautiful.
Elsa: “You can’t just follow me into fire!
“Anna: “Then don’t run into fire!” #iamgrateful and #iamthankful for Disney. And these movies about strong women and strong female bonds.
Yeah, I am behind, but not bad for a guy with two kids. #iamgrateful and #iamthankful for Marvel TV. Can’t wait to get to the Defenders after this (probably skipping the fist, Folks.)
But this scene. I am about to go back down and kiss Anaiya goodnight.
One of the greatest movies ever made. And I say one of … because they made 3 of them (The Next KK, and the Jayden Smith ones never happened, iMHO, like Rocky V).
I need a moment to breathe here and collect my thoughts. HOLY &%*#! WHERE’S MY YOUTUBE RED SUBSCRIPTION??
Some friends and I from Duke have a single, continuous email thread on KK running from as far back as I believe, 2006. #iamgrateful and #iamthankful for a group of friends like you all who recognize true brilliance and art performed at the highest level.
Let the chatter on this one begin, folks! Thanks to Shakeel Rangrez for sharing this.
When you were born to stand out? All I needed to know I learned in kindergarten. I remember that book. It came out when I was in middle school and we have an awesome substitute teacher who actually motivated me to read more. He had me curious about Satanic Verses when nobody else in the world would talk to me about it. I remember this book and him talking about it…we had to be 25 years apart at the time. To me, as an 11 or 12 year old? It was a joke! But to him, it was eye opening and true. When I watch videos like this, and as I get older, life gets simpler. A little clearer. A lot more … well, many other things. But in things like this it does get simpler.
So let’s do this. #iamgrateful and #iamthankful to Rita G Patel for sharing this and reminding me to keep the fun in my daughter’s homework. She loves it right now. And that’s because the lines don’t matter. I hope she never unlearns that.
This > http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4624424/ . It’s been a while since I’ve appreciated the humor in a movie to this extent. It’s clever. It’s unexpected. Some of it is sheer genius (a fight scene with a silent twist, some of the banter). I loved it. I’m about to say that this is the funniest animated film (kid friendly animated film, because otherwise, South Park still wins period) I’ve seen. I attribute the low rating to a failure to balance what an adult might appreciate with what a kid can appreciate at the same time (Disney, Pixar, they always nail layers that appease everyone simultaneously). I’m not sure if my kids would have loved this one. But … I say go for it. So let’s do this and dole out some appreciation for the WB’s foil to Disney’s gold standard.
#iamgrateful and #iamthankful for a flick that kept me distracted and entertained even in 5-10 minute spurts (before going to bed, for example). And a pic that stirred some emotions and forced me to text someone who I’m now forcing to watch it this weekend (thanks Kelli O’Donnell)!
Watch this. I love this stuff. Since the MTV half hour comedy hour back when I was in high school and even before that. Comedians are the philosophers of our time. Good comedians are good philosophers. Bad ones are…still usually better than average. When they get up there it’s just raw. No music to distract. No instruments to augment. No sets (vague sets sometimes) for modest context at best. It’s them. Their words. And an audience full of expectations. You can hear the same sone over and over again. Forever. But the same joke? Has less staying power than even the most aggressively transient hip hop hook. The bast comedy isn’t light and airy either. It’s dark. Heavy. It’s hilarious. And then you think about it a little and something changes about how you see the world. I love this stuff as a craft. Maybe because I could never do it. Like brewing good beer. This special is my. New favorite. It’s so rawZ and the three mics idea is genius. Neil goes from being the guy Chappelle needed for the Chappelle show, to the guy I need to watch over and over. Be ready to laugh. To cringe. And to hear raw stories of drug use, depression, and a strained family relationship. #Iamgrateful and #Iamthankful for this stuff. Amazing sh*t. Stand. Up. And watch this.
