PANCAKES or TIKTOK YA DON’T STOP

I catch a bunch of Tik Tok recipes. There’s a teenager, Eitan Bernath, who just has a great, young, fun energy about food.

Yesterday he tried making a pancakes in a rice cooker so today we did that with the kids.

The kids love Sunday morning pancakes. They basically make the batter (and they’re getting better at cracking eggs).

It was a lot of fun. We even stuffed the pancakes with some goodies. We were able to use more eggs and milk because of how we cooked it so we offset the goodness with m&ms, Kit Kat’s and marshmallows.

And the best parts? Easy for me (no flipping pancakes over a stove over and over). And the kids felt like they were eating a cake (it looked like slices of cake)! And easy to make (just pour the batter in, and turn on the rice cooker!)

PEPPER BISCUIT HEAVEN or 3 LITTLE FIGS IN SOMERVILLE

This is the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. The biscuit is wonderful. Buttery. Salty. Savory. And peppery! While the egg is perfectly cooked and framed and balanced (I love how clean this sandwich is around the edges; it means every layer and ingredient was thoughtfully added and deliberately set.) It’s just wonderful.

#iamgrateful and #iamthankful this was waiting on the other side of that 345am wake up and 6am flight.

TURMERIC HONEYBUSH or MY NEW FAVORITE SODA

I mean what? This soda is incredible. My daddy would have loved it. In tribute, #iamgrateful and #iamthankful for the soda, the typography, the name and holy heck, the taste. What a combination with citrus, black pepper….wow.

It’s wonderful. You get the bright almost powdered creaminess of the Turmeric right at first sip and then it falls away and you get a light sweetness balanced with citrus (the peel essence is clear and evident, like what you’d get from a good cocktail) and effervescence; right when you finish your sip you get a lingering pepper sensation with a heat that’s truly subtle but enough of a note that you know it’s there. I. Mean. Whoa.Nice work Dona Chai
